Legislative Priorities

The City of Homestead is steadfast in its commitment to advancing resilient infrastructure, promoting responsible growth, and protecting the well-being of its residents. The 2026 Legislative Priorities, approved by the Homestead City Council on November 12, 2025 through Resolution No. R2025-11-160, serve as a strategic framework for state and federal advocacy and reflect extensive collaboration between the City Council, Administration, and community needs. This comprehensive package underscores the City’s focus on safeguarding home rule authority, supporting fiscally responsible state policies, and securing essential funding for critical water and wastewater upgrades, roadway and bridge improvements, and new public safety facilities. It also advances key policy initiatives, including independent ZIP code designation, mobility impact fee reinvestment within city boundaries, preservation of Community Redevelopment Agencies, and enhanced public safety recruitment and retention. Collectively, these priorities affirm the City’s dedication to resilient infrastructure, sound governance, and the continued enhancement of quality of life for all who call Homestead home.
