The Flagler Avenue Gravity Sewer Design/Build project, led by the Public Works & Engineering (PW&E) Department, involves the design and replacement of 5,400 linear feet of an aging 8-inch sanitary sewer main with a 12-inch main. This upgrade spans from Krome Avenue to north of Campbell Drive, addressing the deteriorated condition of the existing sewer line and increasing its capacity to support future development.
This replacement is vital to reducing sanitary seepage into the ground and minimizing groundwater and stormwater infiltration into the sewer system. Such issues not only harm the environment but also add unnecessary flow to the wastewater treatment facility, impacting its efficiency and capacity. The project will enhance system reliability, environmental protection, and readiness for growth in the community.
