Current Projects

  • Overhead Utilities Undergrounding

    • Transforming overhead utility lines into underground systems paves the way for greater reliability, resilience, public safety, and beauty, while reducing long-term maintenance costs and elevating property values. This move also prepares us for future technological advancements, such as fiber-optic networks and innovative grid components

  • Krome Marketplace Parking Lot Construction

    • The construction of the new parking lot has begun, symbolizing a bold investment in enhancing accessibility and invigorating the economic spirit of Downtown Homestead. This project will introduce additional, thoughtfully designed parking spaces to elevate the experience for visitors, customers, and local businesses. By strengthening its parking infrastructure, the Homestead Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) aspires to boost foot traffic, attract fresh commercial opportunities, and foster a more inviting and vibrant atmosphere for both residents and visitors.
  • Demolition of Unsafe Structure

    • The CRA is dedicated to transforming our community by removing blighted structures that threaten health and safety or block the path to revitalization. This initiative aspires to create a safer, more beautiful environment that inspires economic growth and uplifts the quality of life for all residents and businesses.
  • Triangle Project

    • The Triangle Project is an inspiring mixed-use and mixed-income development that is transit-oriented. Strategically positioned at the gateway to Homestead’s Historic Southwest Neighborhood, this project seeks to revitalize the area by weaving together residential, commercial, and community spaces that foster economic growth and connectivity. The Triangle Project will cultivate a vibrant and walkable environment that uplifts local businesses, offers quality housing options, and enhances access to nearby transit. This initiative is poised to shape a more sustainable and inclusive future for Homestead.
    • A new establishment in Downtown Homestead, backed by a CRA grant, is poised to open its doors to the public, ready to inspire. This vibrant business will provide professional tattoo services, a thoughtfully curated selection of vintage retail items, and a unique art gallery experience, enriching the cultural and commercial fabric of the community.
    • This CRA grant recipient is on the verge of opening a new 5,000-square-foot facility, a remarkable milestone in its journey. This expansion will not only boost production capacity and enhance profitability but also create new employment opportunities and elevate the customer experience to new heights.
    • With the support of CRA funding, this new restaurant is excited to open its doors, showcasing an enticing selection of authentic Haitian, Caribbean, and American cuisine. The establishment aspires to celebrate culinary diversity and provide a warm dining experience that embodies the vibrant spirit of the community.
    • The property owner is embarking on a journey of structural modernization and improvement, empowered by the CRA Façade Grant Program. With reinforced windows and doors, security will be strengthened, reducing the risks of break-ins, vandalism, and storm damage, ultimately creating a safer haven for employees, customers, and the surrounding community. Additionally, the installation of a new, branded sign will craft a polished and welcoming façade, leaving a lasting positive impression on visitors and enhancing the overall beauty of the area.
    • Grant funds are being allocated to install ADA-compliant restrooms and enhance overall accessibility within the facility. These improvements will enable the occupants of the commercial space to better accommodate and serve all members of our diverse community.
    • The CRA awarded $25,000 in grant funding to Moreno’s Café and Bakery for the installation of a grease trap and other approved buildout improvements at its new location, 118 N. Krome Avenue in the Paramount Building.  Located next to Losner Park, the café is expected to generate increased foot traffic and further energize Downtown.
    • The CRA Board approved a $25,000 grant award to Shafiya & Rahima Corporation, a local grocery store in Downtown Homestead. The funding will support approved exterior and property improvements designed to enhance the storefront’s appearance and contribute to the ongoing revitalization of the CRA District. This investment reinforces the CRA’s commitment to strengthening small businesses, improving the downtown streetscape, and promoting economic vitality in the heart of the community.
    • The CRA demolished the vacant structure at 37 W. Mowry Drive to make way for the development of Paseo Park, a new public green space in Downtown Homestead. The removal of the underutilized building eliminates blight and opens the door for a vibrant community gathering place that will enhance walkability, encourage pedestrian activity, and provide a welcoming outdoor amenity.  Paseo Park represents a transformative investment in the Downtown core, reinforcing the CRA's commitment to revitalization and quality-of-life improvements within the district.
    • The CRA is crafting innovative interior design concepts for three parcels located at 204, 220, and 230 N. Krome Avenue. These visionary plans will empower prospective developers to reimagine the spaces and will include detailed cost estimates for improvements, paving the way for informed investment decisions. This bold initiative seeks to revitalize historic structures into a lively hub for dining and entertainment, breathing life into a key corridor of Downtown Homestead and igniting sustained economic growth.
