In July 2024, the City of Homestead was awarded a $783,400 Brownfields Cleanup Grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This grant enables the City to conduct reuse planning and remediation activities at two sites: the Triangle Assemblage, in the vicinity of SW 4th Street and Railroad Avenue, and the Krome Properties, located at Krome Avenue and NW 2nd Street. This will be a 4-year grant period, with the City authorized to proceed with eligible activities under this grant through September 2028.
