File a Blasting Complaint

The SDI Quarry is located in Florida City and therefore is outside of Homestead city limits and jurisdiction. Blasting activities, frequency, and strength are managed by the State of Florida. Residents who believe that damage to their homes has occurred due to blasting are encouraged to file a complaint. 

Please note that as per Florida Statute 552.30 the City of Homestead is not responsible for blasting activities, frequency, or strength, and does not regulate, process permits, conduct any inspections or exercise oversight functions for blasting. This page is for information purposes only.

How do I file a Complaint?

In April 2021, the State Fire Marshal created a website to promote transparency and accountability with respect to enforcement actions against construction materials mining activity that does not comply with Florida law. This website allows you to submit complaints regarding non-compliant construction materials mining activity, and view the status of complaints submitted to the Division of State Fire Marshal regarding construction materials mining activity occurring in Miami-Dade County.

A quarry is a type of open-pit mine in which dimension stone, rock, construction aggregate, riprap, sand, gravel, or slate is excavated from the ground. The SDI Quarry is located in Florida City and therefore is outside of Homestead city limits and jurisdiction.
