The City of Homestead is calling on residents to Be Ready, Be CERTified, as it relaunches its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, a hands-on course designed to empower the public with life-saving skills for use in times of crisis.
Conducted by Miami-Dade County Emergency Management, this free training covers disaster response, fire safety, basic medical aid, search and rescue, and more—ensuring participants are ready to support their families and neighborhoods when professional responders are not immediately available.
The training will take place every Thursday evening from August 7 through September 18, 2025, from 6 PM to 9 PM, with a final session on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Attendance at all sessions is required to receive official CERT certification.
The City of Homestead encourages residents to take this opportunity to learn how to prepare, respond, and assist when it matters most. Whether it’s a hurricane, flood, or other local emergency, CERT training turns concerned citizens into capable responders.
