WHAT: The City of Homestead Visioning Charrette 

WHEN: April 1st, 2024, through Thursday, April 4th, 2024

WHERE: MDC Homestead- Student Success Center - 500 College Terrace, 4^th Floor Conference Center, Homestead, FL 33030

The first week of April will bring an opportunity for the Homestead community to give input on the future aesthetics, development patterns, and overall look and feel of four major regions of the City. The City of Homestead will host a Visioning Charrette to gather community input on the future of Homestead. The Visioning Charrette will take place from Monday, April 1st, 2024, through Thursday, April 4th, 2024 through various sessions at the MDC Homestead Student Success Center, 4^th floor conference center located at 500 College Terrace, Homestead, FL 33030. This interactive event offers a platform for residents, businesses, and property owners to actively participate and voice their perspectives. 

“This workshop promises an opportunity for meaningful dialogue and collaboration amongst elected officials, staff, and community members,” remarked Development Services Director, Joe Corradino.  “We encourage everyone to come out and help shape the future of our community.”

The event will host various visioning sessions throughout the 4 days with different areas of focus. Homestead residents, businesses, and property owners are invited to participate in a Visioning Session where participants will work with the design team to identify the neighborhood’s challenges and opportunities. 

Visioning Charrette Schedule

Monday, April 1^st

• 1:00pm-4:00pm- Identification of challenges and opportunities in the following areas
  1. Round Table 1 - Downtown Krome Avenue 
  2. Round Table 2 – Civic Center 
  3. Round Table 3 – Campbell Drive 
  4. Round Table 4 – Civic East (TMU) District
• 5:30pm-6:30pm- Introductory Public Lecture

Tuesday, April 2^nd 

• 10:00am-12:00pm- Discussion with residents, businesses, and property owners
• 1:00pm-4:00pm- Identification of challenges and opportunities in the following areas
  1. Round Table 1 - Downtown Krome Avenue 
  2. Round Table 2 – Civic Center 
  3. Round Table 3 – Campbell Drive 
  4. Round Table 4 – Civic East (TMU) District
• 5:30pm-6:30pm- Public Meeting to recap and get resident feedback

Wednesday, April 3^rd 

Local organizations are encouraged to attend the meetings below that pertain to their organization

• 2:00pm-3:00pm- Small Business Owners and Organizations
• 3:00pm-4:00pm- Development, Banking, & Finance
• 4:00pm-5:00pm- Artists and Arts Organizations
• 5:30pm-7:30pm-Public Meeting to recap and listen to comments

Thursday, April 4th

• 5:00pm-6:00pm- Formal presentation to public & HOMESTEAD Steering Committee
