Volunteers Make an Impact at Keep Homestead Beautiful Cleanup

City of Homestead News Posted on March 08, 2022

A few weeks ago, the City of Homestead’s Code Compliance Division and Community Policing Unit organized a massive community cleanup as part of the ongoing “Keep Homestead Beautiful” initiative. Dozens of volunteers took the streets of the Historic Downtown District and Southwest area to clean up litter and garbage. The cleanup effort included community church groups, City of Homestead staff and city council that combed the streets for hours. The volunteers picked up over 150 bags full of trash, litter, and debris.

The cleanup is part of the ongoing campaign to “Keep Homestead Beautiful,” which is a conservation and beautification initiative that encourages residents and visitors alike to take care of our community by picking up litter, cleaning graffiti, recycling, and planting native trees and plants. Whether residents organize a cleanup, help an elderly neighbor with their yard work, follow the City’s posted solid waste pick-up schedule, or report illegal dumping, every little bit helps to Keep Homestead Beautiful!
