The City of Homestead is actively monitoring Hurricane Milton as it approaches South Florida. To ensure the safety of residents and staff, several city facilities and services will be closed or modified in anticipation of severe weather conditions.
The following closures and updates will be in effect:
- City Facilities: All City of Homestead government offices and facilities will be closed on Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10, 2024.
- Building & Construction Inspections: All building and construction inspections facilitated by the Department of Development Services scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10, 2024, will be canceled. All inspections will be rescheduled for the next business day.
- Parks: Homestead Parks will be closed Wednesday, October 9, through Thursday, October 10, 2024.
- Cybrarium: The Cybrarium will be closed Wednesday, October 9, through Thursday, October 10, 2024.
- Solid Waste: Solid Waste collection services will operate as normal on Wednesday, October 9. Services will be suspended if wind speed exceeds 35 MPH. The Solid Waste Drop Site will be closed on Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10, 2024.
- Homestead Trolley: The Homestead Trolley will operate as normal on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Services will be suspended if wind speed exceeds 35 MPH.
- FreeBee: FreeBee services will be suspended on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
